R. Thomas Barowsky, M.D. is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology with certifications in incisional refractive surgery, cataract surgery and laser refractive surgery. He has completed dozens of advanced ophthalmic courses to hone his skills in the latest eye treatments and procedures. He frequently serves as a guest speaker at medical society meetings and writes the weekly "Eye-Q" column in the Sampson Independent in Clinton, NC.
Dr. Barowsky earned two Bachelor's degrees from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, with honors, and the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point before receiving his medical doctorate from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison in 1980. His post-graduate training included an internship at S.W. Michigan Area Health Education Council and an ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in Cleveland, where he was chief resident.
